It’s been 15 years since the Raiders and Rams last played in Los Angeles. For years, Majestic Realty was trying to renovate the Coliseum to bring back a team there, only to be denied, until now. Of course there are some technicalities for discussion. Like this possible team, is not actually going to be in downtown LA, it’s actually going to be 20 miles or so east. This has caused lots of debate as to whether it’s a good place for a stadium in general, and how this stadium could affect the neighboring cities.

The piece features play-by-play man Marv Albert and commentator Paul Maguire, who were covering the 3-2 Cleveland Browns-0-5 Cincinnati Bengals game at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati. But the big story here involved the quarterback controversy between incumbent starter (and local hero) Bernie Kosar and Vinny Testaverde, the former Heisman Trophy winner who had underachieved in six seasons with Tampa Bay. Bill Behlichick had apparently decided to go with Testaverde, going so far as to say that the only way Kosar would get into a game would be “if Testaverde was CARRIED off the field” (emphasis mine) By midseason, Kosar would be unceremoniously dumped and wind up in Dallas as a backup to Troy Aikman (Kosar’s only significant action with Dallas was in the NFC title game against San Francisco after Aikman went down with a concussion), ultimately advancing to Super Bowl XXVIII, where Kosar got to take a knee to seal the Cowboys’ victory. Kosar would then finish his career with Miami behind Dan Marino. Testaverde stayed with the original Browns until 1997 (second year as the Baltimore Ravens), then went to the New York Jets from 1998-2003 (where he had probably the best years of his career) and finally spent a season with Dallas, a second stint with the Jets, New England (reuniting him with Behlichick) and finally Carolina (replacing injured …
